I am the husband of one and the homeschooling father of five. I am a singer, songwriter, and a worship leader who plays guitar and piano. I am the Executive Director of Trinity Arts Center, a small Christian Arts Academy in Eastern Tennessee. I'm also a guitar teacher and -- I spend about half my time building web sites and helping companies organize their thoughts, fine tune their products, and turn their customers into company evangelists. I've been involved with four music projects in my life -- Hot Pink Turtle, Spin Radio, Stand Like Stone, and of course, Jamin Rathbun. I'm also training to be an Ultimate Fighter (that's not true). = )
Breakdancing Chewbacca?
I'm not exactly sure how but -- someone who visited my site yesterday found me by typing that phrase into their search engine. = )

This probably isn't the strongest transition in the world but -- it did get me to thinking... What impression do I leave with people who only intereact with a small portion of my life? One little article on my web site about Mr. T? One little comment over lunch about the Second Amendment? What is the 2-second judgement they make about what (and who) I am?
Apparently, for my site, someone out there sees me as one of the top sources for breakdancing chewbacca content. At work, maybe they see me as a product mananger. At home, a husband and father. At church, a worship leader. What about at the gas station? At the grocery store? At Little Caesar's when I picked up my pizzas tonight?
I'm prompted to ask myself a couple questions:
1. Is my message clear enough or is my life so cluttered with meaningless chatter that my message gets lost?
2. What if I refocused the time I spend on the meaningless -- and spent it on the meaningful?
2. What if I refocused the time I spend on the meaningless -- and spent it on the meaningful?
Yeah -- you're probably saying... "That's a bit of a stretch from breakdancing chewbacca." And -- you're probably right but... there is a ring of truth to it isn't there? Not that the humorous and witty and whimsical aren't important parts of living a full life and having full relationships. However, I'm seeing some wisdom in, perhaps, monitoring my marshmellow fluff vs. green veggie output (and intake) a little more closely. Maybe a bit more bible and music... And a little fewer articles with "naked" in the title. (I've only had 2, by the way). = )
Now that I think about it... There may be one more question to ask:
What is my message?
Now there's the tough one. (or is it the easy one?).
Hebrews 12:1-2
Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

One of my favorites! = )
