Who is this Jamin guy anyway?
I am the husband of one and the father of nine. I was created to sing, to worship, to encourage, and to be steady. I am the Owner & Executive Director of Trinity Arts Center, a multi-disciplinary Arts Center in Eastern Tennessee, and the President of Trinity Arts Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on funding arts education and performance. I've been involved with four music projects in my life -- Hot Pink Turtle, Spin Radio, Stand Like Stone, and of course, Jamin Rathbun.

In 2013, I added my Twitter feed to this site (below). To view the old content, just scroll down past the Twitter timeline. To keep in the loop on new posts, thoughts, and updates, just follow me on Twitter using the button below. Thanks!

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Father help us to stop sinning. Help us to resist temptation. Guide us toward the good paths that you are providing. Help us to stand. Father protect us from harm and free us from the guilt and shame of our sin. Show us truth. Show us mercy. Show us love. Make your voice clear to our hearts and our ears. Call us to you. Amen.

Practically Speaking.
The leadership over at Northpoint (Andy Stanley, Lane Jones, Reggie Jointer) have posted a great podcast series to communicate the material in the book, The 7 Practices Of Effective Ministry. There are some great thoughts here -- definitely worth a look for anyone in ministry.

The following summaries don't do justice to the wealth of content contained in each episode but they'll give you some idea of what to expect from each of the 7 practices.
  1. Clarify The Win
Even the best team can't score if they can't find home plate. In this conversation we'll discuss the importance of clearly defining a win at every level of your organization.

  2. Think Steps Not Programs
Before you start anything, make sure it takes you where you want to go. In this conversation we'll discuss the importance of a clear ministry strategy.

  3. Narrow The Focus
The longer a ministry operates the more complex it can become. In order to maintain a winning organization we must continually face the challenge of narrowing its focus.

  4. Teach Less For More
People are bombarded by thousands of messages every week. If the local church is going to be effective it must cut through the noise. It must learn to say only what needs to be said to the people who need to hear it.

  5. Listen To Outsiders
Why don't the unchurched people in your area go to church? Could it be because you're focusing on who you're trying to keep instead of who you're trying to reach?

  6. Replace Yourself
We all get replaced eventually. The wisest leader will extend his or her influence by finding and mentoring their replacement.

  7. Work On It
All of us work in ministry every day, but is that enough? Working on your ministry requires time to evaluate your work and to celebrate your wins.
By the way, if you like what you hear -- you can pick up the book here.
