Desperation Band has a new CD out called Who You Are (Live).
First, let me preface this paragraph by saying that I've only heard 30 second clips of each song so -- take my comments with a grain of salt. Having said that -- the new CD isn't doing much for me. = ( I am, however, a pretty big fan of these guys and their previous material so... I'm going to dig in a bit deeper and see what the new disc has to offer. There are a couple promising tracks called "Perfect One" and "Revolve" that seem to be worth another listen. You might check them out when you have time.
By the way, you can download lyrics, chord charts, and a free mp3 of "Perfect One" (the first single) from Vertical Music and -- check the bands tour schedule etc. at DesperationBand.com.

We don't need no stinking instructions!
This weeks game is a great one. A little puzzle solving. A little music. A little woodworking. A little clicking, dragging, and typing and voila... Before you know it, an hour has passed and you're beating your head against the desk trying to figure out what to do with puzzle #7. = )
This weeks game is a great one. A little puzzle solving. A little music. A little woodworking. A little clicking, dragging, and typing and voila... Before you know it, an hour has passed and you're beating your head against the desk trying to figure out what to do with puzzle #7. = )
Anyway, the name of the game is ClickDragType 2 and, as with the Grow Cube puzzles, I've included the solutions below so -- click on them if:
- You are lame.
- You are a cheater.
- You enjoy the knowing more than the figuring out.
- You just don't have an hour to figure them all out but you still want to know the answers.
Puzzle 1 - The Key
First, the teeth of the key need to be adjusted to fit the lock. To accomplish this, drag the key toward the blue box with the rectangular shutters. Once the key is inserted, you'll be able to see any interruptions in the current. Make the appropriate adjustments by clicking on the teeth of the key. If you go too far, dont' worry, you can get a new key by clicking the recycle logo. Once the current is flowing uninterrupted, the panel at the top of the window will open, revealing 6 boxes and a "lens." You will need to use the arrow buttons to the left of the panel to align the red cross hairs over each square. Once the cross hairs are aligned over a square, press the green button. This will align the "lens" over the square, revealing a secret number. Repeat this for each square, keeping track of the numbers. Once all 6 have been revealed, enter the code into the text field below the panel and press the green arrow.
Puzzle 2 - Robotic Voices
First, unlock the screen by clicking the padlock at the top of the screen. Once the screen is unlocked, click and drag the red knob all the way to the left of the screen. As you drag the red knob left, 2 of the robotic voices will turn silent. Next, lock the screen again (by clicking the padlock) so that we can adjust the balance on the blue knob to hear the voices clearly. Click and drag on the blue knob in order to "turn" the knob. As you "turn" the knob, notice that the blue numbers below will darken or lighten depending on the knobs position. Adjust the knob until only one number is visible. Solve the simple math problem given by the voice and enter it into the blank below the visible number. Repeat for the other voices and problems.
Puzzle 3 - Phone Wires
Click and drag any of the four colored circles to the extreme top of the window. Now drag the same circle to the extreme bottom of the window. Notice the color change that takes place as the circle is dragged. This color change represents the colored wires that should be connected in order to activate the phone. As an example: If one circle turns orange at the top of the screen and green at the bottom of the screen, you should draw a line with your mouse from the orange wire to the green wire. Once you have done this for all four pairs, the phone will ring. Drag the phone off the hook to hear the numeric sequence that will solve the puzzle. Dragging the phone farther away from the hook, and toward the bottom of the screen will increase the volume. Enter the code into the white text field and press the green arrow. Note the pause in the series, which indicates when the sequence begins.
Puzzle 4 - Colored Lenses
This puzzle includes 4 tiles that may be moved or rotated using your mouse and the small gray slider at the bottom of the screen. When the puzzle loads, the slider is positioned in the middle. You will need to drag it to the right or left to activate the move or turn capability. Next, you will drag one of the color lenses over the picture to reveal 2 things -- 1.) The portion of the puzzle that uses the coordinating color and 2.) The alignment symbols (a square, a circle, a triangle, and an x) for one of the other colors. This allows you to move and spin the pieces to reveal a number. This number should be entered into the coordinating color box at the bottom of the screen in order to complete the puzzle. Once all four numbers have been entered, press the green arrow to submit your answer.
Puzzle 5 - Modified Four Square
First, click the small green circle at the top of the screen to reveal the "key" and "check" buttons. Next, click the key symbol to activate the color lense. Once this lens is activated, you will need to move it over the group of gray square in the middle of the screen. This will reveal the target shape and colors for each section of the group. Once this has been determined, you will use the shaping machine the top of the screen to "cut" the sections into the correct shape. This is accomplished by clicking on the shaping machine, either on the left side or right side, to change the shape or rotate it to another section of the piece. Once you have selected the correct shape (ex. a curved corner in the top left position), you will need to click and drag the group of gray squares onto the staging area to the left of the shaping machine. After the sections have been shaped, they will need to be colored to match the target piece. This is accomplished by dragging the red, blue, or yellow color bars into the coloring machine to create the desired color and -- by clicking the gray/green squares on the machine to turn section on or off, indicated with an X. Follow the same click and drag procedure to stage the shape for the coloring machine. Repeat until your piece matches the target piece revealed by the key lens. When you are finished, press the green circle again and use the "check" feature to verify your work.
Puzzle 6 - Tool Time
The object of this game is to assemble the pieces of wood into the shape shown at the right of the screen. This is accomplished by selected each piece of wood and moving it into position using your arrow keys or the small green/gray squares at the bottom of the screen. Once the pieces are in place, you will need to position the nail gun, using the arrow keys and turn button, and insert four nails that will hold all of the pieces together. You can check your success by clicking of one of the pieces. Any pieces that have been successfully attached will highlight when an adjoining piece is selected. Once all four nails have been driven, click the gray arrow at the top of the screen to "check" your work.
Puzzle 7 - Rings & Wrenches
First, select one of the small circles in the middle of the screen. Once selected, you will notice the ability to select a quadrant of the screen by moving the mouse around. Select one of the quadrants by clicking inside the highlighted area. Once you click, you will see two location indicators above and below the selected circle. This indicators will raise or lower, depending on your proximity to the target area for each circle. Continue to move around the screen until both indicators are reduced to the point where no orange is visible. In some cases, you will have to release the circle (by clicking) and then reselect it, in order to move into a new quadrant. When a ring is positioned correctly, it will turn blue in color. Once all five rings are in place, you will need to align the "wrenches" so that each circular piece align over the top of the individual circles. The wrenches, when aligned, will take the shape of a number. Enter that number into the small white text box and press the green arrow to solve the puzzle.
Puzzle 8 - Cutting Planks
The object of this game it to connect the starting point (at the top-right) with the finishing point (bottom-right) with planks of wood. This is accomplished by rotating each "hub" so that the plank supports of each piece (the dark gray extensions on each hub) are facing directly toward an adjoining hubs plank supports. This is accomplished by clicking on each hub and dragging your mouse up or down, to rotate the piece. Once all of the hubs are aligned, you will need to measure and cut planks to connect the pieces. This is accomplished using the small orange measuring tools in the middle of the screen. These "ends" can be positioned anywhere on the screen and -- will display a numeric value that represent the length of the space in between the two pieces. To begin, you will need to measure the distance between two hubs. Next, you will need to "cut" a plank that will fit in the allotted space. This is accomplished by measuring the plank on the left of the screen (always start from the bottom and measure up). Once the orange ends are positioned correctly, you will need to drag the small saw at the top of the plank panel to the desired cut location. Once you have released the saw, you will need to move your mouse left and right several times to initiate the cutting action. Once the plank has been cut to size, you will need to select it. Once selected the plank will turn semi-transparent. This allows you to place the plank my moving your mouse around the screen. Once in position, you can rotate the plank (by moving the mouse over its top end) or delete the plank (by clicking the red stripe in the middle). Once all of the planks are in position, click the green arrow.
Puzzle 9 - Colored Squares
There are three pieces to this puzzle -- 1.) the colored (and empty) squares on the left 2.) a vertical slider to move the squares along their allotted path and 3.) a hidden color selection panel, revealed by dragging the brown cover onto the vertical slider control. The puzzle is solved by coloring the empty squares with the correct color, determined by observing which squares fully intersect during any phase of the allotted movement. For example, observe the empty square, in the middle of the screen, at the bottom of the section of four linked squares. As the vertical slider is moved, you will notice the this blank square fully intersects with the orange square during the second phase of movement. This means that the empty square will need to be colored orange. This is accomplished by revelaing the color panel, selecting a color, and clicking on the desired square. Repeat until all of the squares are the correct color. Once you have it right, the vertical slider panel will go away, and the arrow at the top of the screen will turn green.
Puzzle 10 - Card Trick
First, click the green arrow at the top-left of the page to hear the sample song. Next, click the green arrow at the bottom-left to hear the current order. To arrange the bottom sections, you will need to click on each section (to select it) and then click on another section (to trigger them to swap positions). Continue doing this until the audio sample plays in the correct order. Once the symbols are in the correct order, you will need to align the color bars at the left of the screen to match. First, click and drag all of the symbol/color cards so that you can see them. You will use the shape/color combinations represented on the cards to determine the order of the small color bars to the left. As with the shapes, you will need to select a bar and then select a second bar to swap positions with the first bar. Continue to do this until the color bars are in the same order as the symbols they represent on the cards. Once they are in the correct order, press the narrow bar with the five white arrows to "shuffle" the cards and submit your solution.
There you have it... Enjoy! = )
