Who is this Jamin guy anyway?
I am the husband of one and the father of nine. I was created to sing, to worship, to encourage, and to be steady. Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Acts 3:19
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord

Trombone Player Wanted
I received a package from my Dad today that included a couple new books, the Beyond the Gates of Splendor DVD (the real story behind the The End of the Spear movie, and... A short film series from Marcus Buckingham called Trombone Player Wanted.

I've only watched the first few minutes of this series but I love how Marcus has chosen to tell this story, layering his own passionate and personal message over the top of an unspoken story of a boy playing his part in his grade school band and the characters that surround him as the story unfolds.

Marcus comes off just a bit like the proto-typical self-help guru or motivational speaker (ala Tony Robbins) but -- he's got some great things to say about finding (and focusing on) your strengths. One quote that really stood out is...

"That's the best definition of strength. A strength is an activity that makes you feel strong. I know that's going to sound odd to you because you've been raised, like I've been raised, to believe that your strengths are things you're good at and your weakness are things you're bad at... A strength isn't just what you're good at. It's what makes you feel strong."

That's a great quote but -- it really doesn't begin to do justice to his thoughts about strength, passion, and learning to trust yourself to redefine your work and life based on what you enjoy (and what makes you feel strong) rather than what others perceive you as being "good" at. Suffice to say that if you have the chance to see him live or pick up the DVD... I recommend you do.

I've been redefining my definitions of self and success a lot over the last year and this DVD series adds a nice bit of wisdom into the mix as I attempt to make (and bake) the white chocolate & macadamia nut cookies that are my life. I'm sure I'll be posting more about that soon. = )

I had to repost this, in light of the cookie reference above. It's a spoof song I recorded about five years ago as part of a fake heavy metal band. Participate at your own peril. = )

Song Title: Kokeja - [ download mp3 ]
Genre: Spoof Heavy Metal
File Size: 4MB

Note: Please enjoy "Kokeja" from the album "Spooky Sounding Words - Live At Great Skate." I actually played all of the instruments on this one... I'm especially proud of the "live" atmosphere and the background vocals. I feel like I really captured the genre. = )

Lyrics: Eat all you can and drink lots of milk because it tastes good and makes your bones strong and resistant to evil by pneumonic forces out in the dark. Chocolate chip or peanut butter, macadamia nut is OK. Just not the almond from Chinese place. They make you weak and succeptable. Now there's nothing left but the kokeja (cookie jar), reach your hand deep inside.

Yikes!
