Who is this Jamin guy anyway?
I am the husband of one and the father of nine. I was created to sing, to worship, to encourage, and to be steady. I am the Owner & Executive Director of Trinity Arts Center, a multi-disciplinary Arts Center in Eastern Tennessee, and the President of Trinity Arts Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on funding arts education and performance. I've been involved with four music projects in my life -- Hot Pink Turtle, Spin Radio, Stand Like Stone, and of course, Jamin Rathbun.

In 2013, I added my Twitter feed to this site (below). To view the old content, just scroll down past the Twitter timeline. To keep in the loop on new posts, thoughts, and updates, just follow me on Twitter using the button below. Thanks!

Romans 6:13-14
Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

James 4:7-10
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

2 Corinthians 10:9-19
To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weaknes."

I've shared thoughts about LifeChurch.tv a couple times this year (here and here) but their current series merits another mention. Craig is a great teacher and the passion behind this recent series is palpable. One of my favorite quotes from this weeks message...

"Confess to God for forgiveness. Confess to God's people for healing."

The 10 Commandments for Using Music in Worship
Generally, I don't trust any list that contains a nice round number of items. It just seems too coincidental that one would work to communicate all that was on their heart for a given topic and -- just happened to end up with a nice even 10. Not likely. When I see a list like that, I've just got to assume something got cut or something got added as filler just cause it sounded better than the 9 (or the 11) Commandments of Worship. = )

Regardless, this post has some thoughts on what worship (music) leaders should and should not do (at least according to FloridaBaptistWitness.com). Judge for yourself whether some of it is filler.
