I am the husband of one and the homeschooling father of five. I am a singer, songwriter, and a worship leader who plays guitar and piano. I am the Executive Director of Trinity Arts Center, a small Christian Arts Academy in Eastern Tennessee. I'm also a guitar teacher and -- I spend about half my time building web sites and helping companies organize their thoughts, fine tune their products, and turn their customers into company evangelists. I've been involved with four music projects in my life -- Hot Pink Turtle, Spin Radio, Stand Like Stone, and of course, Jamin Rathbun. I'm also training to be an Ultimate Fighter (that's not true). = )
Ephesians 6:4
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
I have to remind myself of this passage all the time. It's so easy to order your kids around like slaves. It's so easy to take out your frustrations (with work, with your spouse, with life) out on your kids. I hate how often I blow my kids off because I'm "too busy" or "too tired." I love them so much that my chest hurts (in a good way) when I look at them playing with each other. My sons are strong and handsome and smart. My daughters are beautiful and talented and bright. I love them sooo much.
Anyway... I'm beginning to get down to crunch time with my oldest son. He's moving into his teenage years and I'm suddenly watching him turn into a young man before my eyes. It's a very cool time and I'm really enjoying how big of a help he has become. Actually my two oldest (9 and 12) are really turning into amazing kids and I'm thrilled out how cool they are. God is good!
Along with having older kids comes this awareness of how much time I've wasted and what it is going to cost my kids if I don't get my act together. Sex talks. Quality time. Quantity time. Trust. Maturity. Authenticity. Confidence. Strength. Humility. Friendship. Godliness. There's a lot on the plate for the next few years and I'm praying hard for God to help me do better and... Praying even harder that he helps them turn out ok in spite of me. = )
I suppose what I'm saying is... Don't let this time slip by. Don't miss it and -- if you have a few minutes now and then... Pray that I don't mess it up. = )
Thanks!

By the way, at the end of the video, there are links to other "how _______ should have ended" videos. I haven't watched them all but the one for The Blair Witch Project was pretty funny too. = )
