Who is this Jamin guy anyway?
I am the husband of one and the father of nine. I was created to sing, to worship, to encourage, and to be steady. I am the Owner & Executive Director of Trinity Arts Center, a multi-disciplinary Arts Center in Eastern Tennessee, and the President of Trinity Arts Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on funding arts education and performance. I've been involved with four music projects in my life -- Hot Pink Turtle, Spin Radio, Stand Like Stone, and of course, Jamin Rathbun.

In 2013, I added my Twitter feed to this site (below). To view the old content, just scroll down past the Twitter timeline. To keep in the loop on new posts, thoughts, and updates, just follow me on Twitter using the button below. Thanks!

Site Redesign for 2006
As you've probably noticed, I've put together (at long last) a real web site to represent the superdink.com brand, as well as, myself and a few of the projects and bands from my past (jaminrathbun.com, standlikestone.com, and hotpinkturtle.com).

Those of you who know me have had many opportunities to ridicule my lame-ness as I have procrastinated developing (and consistently maintaining) my own web site for nearly a decade. With that said... This site marks a shift in focus that will bring to fruition a handful of things I've been meaning to do. This will include the composition, recording, and posting of a ton of new music, a wealth of (hopefully) useful worship resources, a weekly bible memory section with commentary, a superdink store (to purchase music and branded clothing), and whatever interesting links and content I can come up with.

For the seven of you (not including my mom) that have participated in the sporadic content that I published in 2005, I apologize for repeating myself a bit in the new year but -- it seemed like the best place to start was at the beginning. The good news is -- I didn't post much last year so it won't take long to get to the new stuff. = )

For anyone new... Thanks for stopping by. Make yourself at home.

Song Title: Come - [ download mp3 ]
Genre: Adult Contemporary, Worship, Piano, Vocal
File Size: 8.3MB

Notes: This is essentially a musical "alter call" that I took from Revelation 22:17. Initially, I had intended for this to be part of my new worship material but -- I'm not sure how sing-along-able it is. Regardless, I like this one quite a bit, especially the simple piano melody at the end.

Lyrics: The Spirit and the Bride say come. Let him who hears say come. Let he who is thirsty, let him come. And whoever wishes, let him take the water of life. Jesus, come and rain upon our land. Israel, come home. Jesus, come and reign here in our hearts. Israel, come home.

Romans 8:28-39
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all - how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died more than that, who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I think most of us are familiar with the last few lines of this passage "neither life, nor death..." and it's a great summary of the passage but - what really caught my eye this week comes a little earlier in the text.

First, Paul gives a quick outline of how God works. The following description and celebration of God's goodness, fairness, perfection, completion, limitless power, and permanence is true and wonderful and comforting. The reminder that Jesus sits at the right hand of God interceding on our behalf is encouraging. But - right now, I want to look in between these two sections of encouragment and challenge you with the question Paul asked in verse 31... "What then shall we say in response to this?"

How do we respond to God's goodness? How do we react to his love? How do we deal with the enemy? How do we live out the truth that if God is for us - who can stand against us?

For me, this has been a challenge to take chances. It's a call to lay it on the line, with no hedged bet - to see if God will do what he says he will do. IF God has created me with a purpose in mind and IF he has laid before me the way I should go. IF I believe that God has called and justified me and is conforming me into the likeness of His Son - then shouldn't I be living out everything that I believe God is calling me to do?

This applies to my work and my friendships and my neighbors and my tithe and my time and my children. It applies to everything. God IS good. God CANNOT be over ruled or circumvented or defeated or outsmarted. God's plan is THE plan. There isn't an alternate or a detour or a backup. He has called us, and justified us through the blood of the Lamb.

How will you respond?
