I am the husband of one and the father of nine. I was created to sing, to worship, to encourage, and to be steady. I am the Owner & Executive Director of Trinity Arts Center, a multi-disciplinary Arts Center in Eastern Tennessee, and the President of Trinity Arts Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on funding arts education and performance. I've been involved with four music projects in my life -- Hot Pink Turtle, Spin Radio, Stand Like Stone, and of course, Jamin Rathbun.

Matthew 6:5-8
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

I set out to post about prayer but -- I figured rather than write... I'd just spend some time in prayer first (something I fail too often to do). Check out the passages below when you have time... I'll post some additional links tomorrow and some thoughts on Friday.
Pray for those who persecute you... - Matthew 5:44
This, then is how you should pray... - Matthew 6:9-12
If two of you agree about anything you ask for... - Matthew 18:18-19
You will receive whatever you ask for... - Matthew 21:22
Whatever you ask for... - Mark 11:23-25
Your prayer has been heard... - Luke 1:13-14
Often Jesus withdrew to lonely places... - Luke 5:16
Parables on prayer... - Luke 18
Jesus prays... - John 17

That's a good summary of the prayer example set by Jesus. We'll take a look at some post-Gospels passages tomorrow. By the way, I couldn't bring up prayer without posting a link to Pray, one of the more popular Stand Like Stone songs. = )
music
Notes: This was primarily taken from 1 Tim 2:1-5. It was one of those times I was able to pull the text (nearly) straight from the passage. This is my son Luke's (and I think all of my kids) favorite because it's loud. = )
Lyrics: I urge you first of all to pray. Make intercession for the ones you love and even sometimes those you hate. For this is good and pleases God who wants for all men to be saved and find the knowledge of the truth. Time to pray time to pray time to pray. Don't you see that I speak the truth and don't you see I do not lie. I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands to pray.
