I am the husband of one and the homeschooling father of five. I am a singer, songwriter, and a worship leader who plays guitar and piano. Even after our three days of prayer passages last month... I still find myself struggling to understand how an omniscient and omnipresent God hears and responds to the request of His people. That's why I love the plain spoken language in this passage... Elijah (a man just like us) prayed specifically that it wouldn't rain, and it didn't for three and a half years. Now there's an answer to prayer. = )

Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him?
James 4:2-3
You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives...
