Who is this Jamin guy anyway?
I am the husband of one and the father of nine. I was created to sing, to worship, to encourage, and to be steady. I am the Owner & Executive Director of Trinity Arts Center, a multi-disciplinary Arts Center in Eastern Tennessee, and the President of Trinity Arts Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on funding arts education and performance. I've been involved with four music projects in my life -- Hot Pink Turtle, Spin Radio, Stand Like Stone, and of course, Jamin Rathbun.

In 2013, I added my Twitter feed to this site (below). To view the old content, just scroll down past the Twitter timeline. To keep in the loop on new posts, thoughts, and updates, just follow me on Twitter using the button below. Thanks!

Habakkuk 3:2
LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known.

There have been many times in my life that I've lost sight of where God was. There have been times that I've struggled to really see God in the things going on around me. A few times, it has been due to sin in my life that is interfering with my relationship with God. More often, I've simply found myself questioning my role in a universe that seems to be moving toward some pre-determined destination, with or without my help. On many occassions, I've prayed that God would make himself more real to me. That He would deliver a miraculous sign so that I could know that I was heading the right way. So I could know that I had value, and meaning, and purpose.

If you can relate to what I'm saying... You aren't alone. Solomon spoke about searching the earth and trying all kinds of things to find meaning and purpose. And what was the conclusion of the wisest man in the history of the world?

Ecclesiastes 1:1
Meaningless! Meaningless! says the Teacher. Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.

Ecclesiastes 2:11
When I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 2:24
To the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Ecclesiastes 3:14
I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

Later in Ecclesiastes, he even says that wisdom is meaningless, pleasure is meaningless, laughter is meaningless, and that toil is meaningless... etc, etc, etc. Without Him, everything is meaningless. Without Him, I become small. Without Him, I become weak. Without Him, I am without purpose and alone.

It's easy to get caught up in the stuff of life, and forget who God really is -- not just a poetic, loving, patient, merciful father -- but the famous and awesome Almighty God who created and continues to give life to everything.

Ecclesiastes 12:13
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

Father, help us to obey you. Father, make yourself real to us. Bring healing and truth into our lives in a way that will mark us eternally with your Spirit and a desire to please you. Help us through difficult times. Protect us from harm. Lend us your strength and perfect us in our weakness. Help us to be faithful and remind us that we can trust in you. Father, you are the Lord, the Famous One, and great is Your Name in all the earth. Amen!
